Buri Dam
Around 1982, a dam, known as Burir Dam, was constructed on the Suk River on the border of Akcha and Chilarong Unions of Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila to facilitate the irrigation of agricultural land during the dry season.
There is a fish sanctuary here. Burir Dam Fishery Sanctuary has been built on Suk River over an area of 50 acres. No one is allowed to fish here throughout the year. Every year the Department of Fisheries releases different types of fish fry in the water trapped in Burir Dam. Then at the beginning of winter this fish is opened for everyone. This is how the fishing fair has been going on for years at this time in Burir dam area.
