Mozzarella cheese

Although Thakurgaon has no tradition in the cheese industry, but for commercial reasons, factories for making the dairy product are increasing in the district recently. In the span of a few years, 20 Mozzarella cheese factories have been opened in the district. However, the market has not yet been created locally or outside the country. Almost all the cheese made in Thakurgaon is being sold in various hotels and restaurants of the capital.

This rise of cheese industry has opened up new horizons in terms of employment in Thakurgaon. Medium-sized factories employ 10 to 35 workers. Daily production of cheese is 50 to 200 kg. Mozzarella cheese is processed and sold several times more than the profit made by collecting milk locally and supplying it directly to hotel-restaurants. Each ball of cheese or paneer is sold at the rate of Tk 500-600. Because of this, entrepreneurs are also encouraged to take this industry forward. There are several cheese factories in Telipara and Nishchintpur, old bus stand area of Thakurgaon district town.
