Tangon River

Tangon River is also known as Tangon or Tangon River. The river is named after the famous zamindar Tongnath of Ranishankail in Thakurgaon district. From the Indian state of West Bengal, the river enters the territory of Bangladesh through the western border of Panchagarh district. The river flows through Ruhia, Pirganj and Bochaganj and re-enters West Bengal, India through Birol upazila of Dinajpur district. The Tangon re-enters Bangladesh by joining the Punarbhaba River near Rohanpur in Naogaon district. The river dries up during the winter season, but during the monsoon season the river is navigable and navigable. A dam with five spillways was constructed on the river in 1989, 10 km west of Boda; As a result, it is possible to provide irrigation facilities to about 5,000 hectares of land during the dry season, of which 1,000 to 1,500 hectares are under wheat cultivation.

 Thakurgaon town is situated on the bank of Tangon river.
