Thakurgaon Airport

Thakurgaon Airport is an airport located in Shibganj, Thakurgaon district of Bangladesh. It was used for government and military purposes. The airport is currently abandoned.

The airport was established in 1940 on 550 acres of land. During the Indo-Pak War in 1965, the airport's runway was heavily damaged when the Indian Air Force attacked it.

The airport was renovated in 1977, and some commercial flights operated here for a few years. Due to lack of interest and declining passenger numbers, the airport ceased operations and was abandoned in 1980. The airport is currently defunct and no commercial flights operate here.

The airport is located in Shibganj area of Motherganj on the Thakurgaon-Pirganj highway, just about 10 km from the city. It was built in 1940 on 550 acres of land.

The main runway of the port is three kilometers. High-level discussions are ongoing on whether the airport can be reopened.
