Bhatarmari mass grave

Bhatarmari mass grave is located next to Jamalpur Sugarcrop Research Centre at Pirganj. During the liberation war, Sujauddin, Prof. Golam Mostafa, Abdul Jabbar, Atiur Rahman, Mozaffar Hossain, Jitendranath Sutradhar, Manindranath Sutradhar etc. were brutally shot and killed by the then Pak occupation forces from Pirganj east Crossroads in an area called Bhatarmari Farm with the help of local razakars and dumped their dead bodies there. According to local people, it is called Bhatarmari mass grave. The present government has constructed a monument in memory of the martyrs at that place. The distance of this place from Thakurgaon town is 15.6 Kilometer.

On April 17, 1971, Pakistani soldiers attacked Pirganj for the first time and captured seven Bengalis, including Professor Ghulam Mustafa, politicians, teachers, businessmen, workers and killed them in Bhatarmari sugarcane farm and left the bodies. Those who were killed that day are Mofizuddin Ahmed, Abdul Jabbar, Mozaffar Hossain, Md. Atiur Rahman and Sunil Kumar Sheel.
